This project is a humble offering to His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja, who now continues the work of teaching the world the cult of pure Bhakti in the glorious line of Sri Gaudiya-Saraswata Sampradaya.
To precisely the same extent this project is dedicated to His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, to whom all of us (Western and Eastern devotees alike) are eternally obliged; who has forever endeared all of us by his sweet mercy; and who has performed the well known #1 world’s miracle of the 20th century. Perhaps this transcendental miracle, as well as Prabhupada's full glory are still to be fully manifest in this world as well as in the hearts of most of us.
May they be pleased with this humble attempt to glorify the Guru-varga and the Holy Dham.
We'd like to thank everyone who helped us so far... all the riksas in India that were taking us all over the Dhamas. Although I guess some of them would not exactly know what was going on (because of the insufficiency of my Hindi and their English), yet they were definitely 'on the team' and they ARE forever a big part of this project.
I want to sincerely express my gratitude to all the priests and pujaris at numerous Temples and Holly Tirthas that we have visited for not forbidding us to take the pictures for maha-prasadam, blessings, encouragement and nice stories (katha).
Nityananda das Brahmacari is the sevaeet of the gorgeous Sri Sri Gour-Gadadhar Deities in the ancient and famous Champa-Hatta of Sri Navadvip. Thanks for singing Gita-Govinda and for the mercy. I look forward to seeing the www.GourGadadhar.com manifest as much as I look forward to meeting with you again soon.
I want to thank Sadananda das and the residents of the small rural vaisnava community in Central Texas. Thanks for tolerating me, for dropping at and picking up from the airport, sharing prasadam and so many other nice things you did that has hugely helped this project.
I highly appreciate the help and friendship of Prabhu-kripa das. Without his association that has been benefiting me for years now this project would also have not been possible.
Thank you all!
If you are fairly new to this and can't make a lot of sense of what is being told here, first of all you are very welcome here. I am really glad you made your way here. I am sorry if this website feels like it is somewhat for people who already have some sort of experience. It is true actually. It might not be very flexible and accommodating for new-comers, especially since this project is in a very beginning stage. However, I would like to share a few simple ideas with you now: Bhakti, loving devotional service of the Lord is just another name for what we refer to using the word 'happiness'. Of course, the word happiness does not really mean much in our day-to-day life as most of people will admit that we don't know what true happiness actually is. However, I think this is good since thus we reserve this word for a very pure and sublime substance. We do hanker and seek for the complete profound satisfaction. Since the drive for that is there in us, the pure happiness must exist. Isn't it? That pure fully satisfying happiness is just what we understand by Bhakti. The process of attaining this perfection we call Bhakti-yoga or loving service of the Lord. It is described in the ancient Bhakti-scriptures; and also the method is carefully brought down to us through the ages via the unbroken chain of disciplic succession called Parampara. We can take advantage of these two excellent sources of information. Also we can monitor our progress simply by our feeling. Aren't we supposed to feel better when we approach the state of pure and complete happiness?
I'd like to suggest and ask that you try to investigate this bhakti thing and see for yourself if my claim has any truth in it. I do claim that Bhakti means real happiness and I also want to step forward and offer you my own help in the process if you decide to try it out. Just write to me.
Also we are starting this online community, in which we have reserved a very special place for you. I hope that you will find many good friends here. As all good friends do, they will help you, and you will be able to help them as well.
For those of you who have been around and perhaps belong to different Vaisnava sangas and organizations I want to mention or may be even state here that 360darshan.com is definitely thought to be a place where every sincere soul regardless of any social or 'religious' identification is equally warmly welcomed and wanted. In case you've had a doubt about this please work it out. We will do all we can to upkeep this spirit. This is a place for brothers and sisters.
Hare Krishna! ..
My name is Visnujana das. I started this project with the hope that one day this website would be helping devotees in their meditation on the beautiful Dhama, the Holly places of India in which the sweet pastimes of Krishna, Gauranga Mahaprabhu as well as Their associates and devotees were performed.
When I was going to India for the first time in October 2007 I had no idea what it would be like. While I was there by the mercy of the Dhama and the vaisnavas some minor realizations were coming and I began to contemplate on how I could take "it all" with me wherever I would have to go. As happens in lives of many devotees some of the holly earth and shilas (stones) have also come to me. The idea and inspiration for making this virtual presentation of the Dhama also came at that time. Actually, I was not planning to leave Vrindavan (where I was at the time), however, everything was arranged in such a way that I came back to the West, gathered all the necessary equipment, learned the basics and came back to Vraj 2 months later, ready to shoot the panoramas and do the stuff. I spent another couple of months in the Dhama in this way, visiting over a hundred of lila-sthalis in Vrindavan, Govardhan and Navadvip, taking the panoramic pictures, meeting wonderful, sweet devotees and dhama-vasis and just constantly witnessing the Lord's profuse mercy. I came back in April carrying what I felt to be the most precious 'possession' I have ever had... and here I am putting things together and publishing them on this website.
By the time we're launching this website only about 3% of the panoramas shot have been published. We worked pretty hard all these months since April. Yet it the work is quite time consuming, and we have only been able to get to this point. We will try our best to add at least one new 'Place' every week. The 'Website Updates' email news-letter will be sent out to its subscribers to let you know what place we are working on and that is going to be published next week (sign up at the front page).
I have no qualification even to begin glorifying the Dhama. However, just for my own purification I'd like to say one thing. The mercy of the Holly Dhama is extremely important for our progress in bhakti. According to our Acaryas, such as Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Visvanath Cakravarti Thakura and others, especially for devotees, practicing raganuga-bhakti it is imperative to always reside in the Dhama either physically, or, at least, mentally.
These lila-sthalis, pastime places, are transcendental siddha-pithas, holy places that quickly deliver perfection in one's devotional practices. By their causeless mercy, the flow of pastimes pertaining to each place easily begins to reflect in the heart of a sincere, honest sadhaka without any effort on his part. "Sri Candrika-Cakora Vritti"
